Synthetic material

A fiber
synthetic

The first polyester was developed in England in the 1940s.

Polyester

Glossy, matte, textured or untextured, with different cross-sections (round, tri-lobed or multi-lobed) for different gloss effects. Some yarns feature very fine microfibre filaments (< 1 dtex). The polyester range includes many brands: Tergal, Dacron, Diolen, Terital, Trévira, Terylène, Wistel, Terlanka, Tetoron...

Easy to maintain

Polyester is very easy to care for, dries quickly and is highly resistant to abrasion and rubbing. It has found numerous uses in weaving (webbing, canvas), braiding (ropes, halyards), knitting (garments/hosiery) and is replacing polyamide in more and more applications because of its excellent quality/price ratio. In fact, it's the most widely used synthetic fiber in the world (over 50%).
